Now that you’ve got the “marketing” taken care of and you don’t need to read through all my opinions you can close this letter or you can venture ahead like a brave soldier awaiting punishment.

I’d not been aware of the Philippines act, Dead Ends until last week when General Speech hit me up about them and they blew me away. These there LP’s span their evolution from the ‘85 to ‘87 incorporating sounds from Californian first wave Punk and Hardcore at the beginning to the more aggressive Negative Approach and Poison Idea type blasts of aggression by their end. I recently picked up a Hardcore record by the Australian phenoms World War XXIV that pairs that Adolescents style of catchy, punk with the no-fuckin’-around speed and meat of 1983 America. A winning combination by any stretch. Dead Kennedy’s might be the most hated band in the world (by losers) but I’d be remiss to not mention that there is a very clear influence present here as well. Don’t be too upset, this is quality stuff and I’m happy to have 3 new LP’s by a classic Punk band that I can enjoy that feel fresh in my ears. A welcome addition to this collection for sure except now I’m tempted to track down the cassettes….

Rounding out some UK82 sounds is the UK84 release by Legion Of Parasites, there was a fan club compilation of all their recordings that was floating around awhile ago but it’s nice to see this underrated ripper come out in an official reissue. It sounds great, there was no attempt to jazz up the artwork. Just an honest attempt to get some tunes available the way they should be heard. LOP as mentioned, do sit in the UK82 pile but they are far more ferocious than many of those groups seemingly leaning a bit closer to the American side of Hardcore Punk than the more plodding UK groups. You could file this next to Ultra Violence or Mayhem (the Riot City band - dummy) and it would be appropriate. This 12” is welcome here until I find an original. The Last Survivors compilation is yet another great choice by General Speech bringing together the recordings 2001 - 2016 including some compilations, the Crust War 7” and a few more. Again, I wasn’t super familiar with this group but it’s a goddam scorcher. This is not the blasted Crust you’d expect from being on the label, it’s closer to The Addiction than Abraham’s Cross. In fact, I put them in this paragraph with Legion of Parasites because that makes sense.

We’ve also restocked the Deef and Die Owan LP’s. If you’re not aware of those (no shaming here) they blew me away. Die Owan have over 100 tracks per LP, almost like bedroom, Punk Rock jingles. It’s amazing. If you were looking for the birth of Egg Punk before it became a mockery of itself you could call this the starting point. Deef are the completely opposite side of the Yen being perhaps the first raw punk band from Japan. Hailing from Sapporo City, these wild punks started slinging riffs in 1979 before cutting a couple of cassettes in the 80s and ending up on want-lists everywhere. Highest recommendation on both. First time on vinyl for each of them. God bless General Speech. Thank you for your service.

I started listening to audiobooks again because I can’t sit still and whenever I do I get anxious and feel like a freak. The current choice is a newer book on the Manson Family, it’s called Chaos - written by Tom O’neill and Dan Piepenbring. This came out a few years back and I remember my girlfriend telling me about it saying it was very good. I’ve only just started it so I can’t comment super heavily on it but it seems like it’s connecting Manson with the CIA and other 60’s Counter Culture conspiracies and fun.

I’m going to sign off here because I’m literally shaking mad with UPS for having the worst customer service of all time but before I go, I want to let you know that the new Pee Blood release by Anonymous Carppeting is very good and you need it in your life. I’ve been dubbing them all morning while moaning at customer service agents so please respect my labor. In fact, hit it up soon because it isn’t going to last. For fans of immediate music for immediate people immediately. Pick it up and cut a rug.

Oh, I got a new cat. He is 3 years old, grew up on the mean streets of Calgary, Alberta and coos like a pigeon. All the time. He looks like this. Last but not least, the new Bootlicker record is moving very fast and I’m actually worried about fill. If you need a copy i’d get on it sooner than later. Same goes for Traumatizer and Jug as both of those are seriously dwindling in quantity.
